Frank E. Dawson, Jr., 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 10, 2024, at his home.

Born September 11, 1934, in Fulton, Missouri, he was the son of Frank E., Sr. and Merle (James) Dawson.  He was raised and received his education in Fulton, graduating from Fulton High School.  He joined the United States Army on April 11, 1957 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in March 1959.

Frank was united in marriage to Juna Lee Major on June 23, 1957, in Fulton.   He worked at Tower Loan Company in Fulton until transferring to Winfield in 1969.  He later worked at Kerrs Department Store and Graves Drug Store before beginning a 20 year career for Gott Manufacturing/Rubbermaid.  Frank worked in the shipping warehouse and retired in 1996.  Juna preceded him in death on August 5, 2008.

Frank was a member of First Christian Church in Winfield  He loved to cook and work in his garden growing flowers and plants.

His family includes his son Scott Dawson and wife, Sheila of Winfield; his daughter Robyn Tapia and husband, Daniel of Winfield; his sister Frances Brickley; his grandchildren, Michelle (Tapia) Sigg, Bryan Tapia, Jeremy Bohrer, Ian MacDonald, Izek MacDonald, and Ivy MacDonald; and his great grandchildren, Amalee, Leiland, and Hendrix Sigg, Madex Wood, Maxden Vereen, and Aylin MacDonald.

In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by his brother Eddie Dawson and a sister Ruth Pettit.

Cremation has been effected under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.  A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Gentiva Hospice.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
