Frank Craig's Obituary
FRANK CRAIG, 86, of Udall, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, February 20, 2008 at the Via Christi/St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Born on January 8, 1922 in Udall, Kansas, he was the son of Charles and Bessie Emmaline (Stout) Craig. He was raised and received his education in Udall and graduated from Udall High School in 1940. Frank then attended Southwestern College in Winfield where he received his teaching certificate.
A veteran of World War II., Mr. Craig proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served in Africa and Italy where he was a Corporal. Following his honorable discharge he lived in Wichita and later Denver and Colorado Springs. Frank was employed with Derby Oil, Colorado Oil & Gas and also Sinclair Oil during this time where he worked in the accounting departments. Frank also was a dedicated caregiver for Bessie Craig until her death in 1993.
Following his retirement he made his home in Udall where he has been a resident for the last 30 years. He loved gardening and watching nature from his back porch. Frank also enjoyed taking in and caring for stray cats and wildlife as well.
His family includes:
His nieces: Sharon Smith and husband Don of Beaumont, TX; Beverly Russell and husband Steve of Udall, KS; and Judith Goodwin and husband Mark of Overland Park, KS;
His nephews: Gary Blankenship and wife Jeanne of Davenport, WA; and Robert Craig and wife Sue of Johnstown, CO;
His 13 great nieces and nephews, 10 great-great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-great niece.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles F. Craig and his sister, Laura Blankenship.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Udall United Methodist Church. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials have been established in Frank's name for Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, the Udall Public Library and the Udall First Responders.
