Frances I. Biddle, 81, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her home.
Born November 5, 1940, in Fall City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Earl Raymond and Alma Lee (Davis) Jennings. She attended elementary schools in various Oklahoma towns as her dad worked for Phillips Oil Company, and the family moved often. In 1954, they moved to Arkansas City where she attended Arkansas City High School, graduating in 1958. She then attended Wichita Business College from 1958 to 1959. Following school, she returned to Arkansas City and worked for Crane Mills Watts Insurance Agency as a secretary for five years.
Frances was united in marriage to Richard L. Biddle on January 18, 1964, at the First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City. The couple made their home and raised their family in Winfield. In 1966, Frances began her career as a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. She remained at the state hospital for over 30 years, retiring in October of 1996.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She belonged to bowling leagues and really enjoyed it, in the early years. She also volunteered monthly at church in the nursery and toddler classes and helped with Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed crocheting Christmas gifts for family and friends, and attending horse shows, rodeos, and races with family. Her hobbies include camping, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and other family activities. She also enjoyed watching tennis and ice skating on television.
Her family includes her husband Richard Biddle of Winfield; her son Dan Biddle and wife, Jana of Arkansas City; her daughter Kelley Lumbert and husband, Brent of Winfield; her brothers, David Taylor of Stratford, OK; Dallas Jennings and wife, Christine of Pryor, OK; Wendell Jennings and wife, Martha of Adair, OK; her grandchildren, Tristan Sengkham and husband, Ricky; Taylor Young and husband, Tyson; Teall Lumbert and husband, Kolton; Gage Biddle; Landry Biddle; and her great grandchildren, Ryker Young, Tinley Price, Parker Young, and Aria Sengkham.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sister Joanne Whatley, a niece Kathy Whatley, a nephew Carl Whatley, and a sister-in-law Barbara Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Oxford Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.
Memorials have been established in Frances' name for Central Baptist Church and for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
