Frances Shively Baucom, 82, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2019 at Winfield Senior Living.
Born September 8, 1937 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Barbara (Johnson) Shively. She was raised and received her education in Burden, graduating from Burden High School.
Frances was united in marriage to Vernon L. Baucom on June 22, 1956 at the Burden United Methodist Church. She worked at the Walnut Valley Lanes for a number years where she also taught bowling lessons. She was in charge of hiring and scheduling for the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival for several years before retiring in 2002. Vernon preceded her in death on October 23 this year.
Frances enjoyed playing softball and pitch. She loved to bowl and bowled numerous tournaments. She was the second best woman bowler in the state of Kansas in 1976.
Her family includes her sons, Lesley Baucom of Arkansas City; Wesley Baucom and wife, Martha of Wellington; and Clay Baucom and wife, Sandy of Winfield; her sister Kendra Redford of Burden; her eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Fouch.
Following Frances' wishes, cremation has taken place. Private services will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Frances' name for the Winfield Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
