FLOYD J. WILLIS, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, June 14, 2009 at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Born on January 12, 1936 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, he was the son of Ruben Joseph and Missie (Elston) Willis. He was raised in Pawnee and later Arkansas City, Kansas. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Willis proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Arkansas City. He began employment at the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital where he was an orderly.
He was united in marriage to Joan Davis on January 6, 1952 in Arkansas City. Floyd was employed at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center where he was dormitory director and executive housekeeper. He retired in 1997 following 30 years of service. During this time, he also owned and operated Cosmopolitan Cleaning Service.
He was member of the Veterans of Foreign War #3544 and American Legion Post #10. Floyd was and avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports on television.

His niece: Tiffany Hamilton;
His nephew: Lamont Hamilton;
His faithful friend, Kaiser; and a host of extended family in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Claudette J. Willis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 19, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Thursday, June 18, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.
