FLOYD L. MAYFIELD, 70, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2012 at his home.
Born on September 22, 1941 in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Ted Mayfield and Floy Lee Rawson. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City and Geuda Springs, Kansas. Floyd later attended Wichita State University and took courses in Urban Public Works Administration.
He was employed as an electrician for Bellis Electric in Arkansas City from 1961 to 1963.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Hensley on May 11, 1963 at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Floyd worked for Rundle Electric until 1967 when he started his own business, Floyd's Electric. In 1969 he was employed at Allen Electric Wholesale as a salesman.
In 1971, he became employed for the City of Winfield as an electrician and advanced through several title changes including Director of Utilities Services Division. He retired in 1999. Carolyn preceded him in death on August 6, 1996.
On June 11, 2011 Floyd was united in marriage to Marlene Finney in Winfield.
Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Elks Lodge 732 where he was an Exalted Ruler, VFW Post #3544 and the American Legion Post #10.
His hobbies included spending time with his family, boating, working in the yard, bowling, managing real estate and playing on his tractor.

His step-son: Matthew Finney of the home;
His step-daughter: Megan Curran of Oklahoma City, OK;
His brothers: Ralph Mayfield and wife Ann of Wichita, KS; and Bill Mayfield and wife Annie of Sedalia, MO;
His sister-in-law: Joyce Mayfield of Topeka, KS;
His grandchildren: Elizabeth, Grant and Nicholas Lapham; and Caleb, Jaden and Avery Mayfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Carolyn, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Mayfield, his sister, Joan Wolfe, and his brother-in-law Wilbur Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service, Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends during that time.
Memorials have been established in Mr. Mayfield's name for Newkirk Main Street and the First Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
