Obituary

FLORENCE A. WALDORF, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday night, April 16, 2008, at Cumbernauld Village.

Born on June 11, 1920 in Cambridge, Kansas, she was the daughter of Clarence and Helen (Stiner) Sowers. She was raised and educated in the Cambridge area.

On February 28, 1936, Florence was united in marriage to Cecil C. Waldorf in Winfield. The couple made their home in Rolla, Missouri for five or six years, before moving back to the Winfield area where they would spend the rest of their lives. Mr. Waldorf preceded her in death on December 1, 1994.

She made her career as a homemaker. She loved to embroider baby quilts, grow flowers, spend time with her grandchildren and looked forward to her birthday get togethers. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Unit for over 50 years.

Her daughters: Donna Cook and husband, Richard of Winfield; Christine Flottman and husband, Robert of Winfield; and Martha Wilson and husband, Bruce of Claremore, OK;
Her brother: Ernest Sowers and wife, Delphia of Blackwell, OK;
Her sister: Theora Rutherford and husband, Ray of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Randy Waldorf and wife, Kathy; Rick Waldorf and wife, Becky; Maggie Oyler and husband, Gary; Monica Jiminez; Rex Flottman and wife, Sandy; Rodney Cook and wife, Melissa; Janet Archambeau; Dereck Wilson and wife, Barbara; Deshayn Wilson and wife, Jennifer; Justin Waldorf and wife, Patty; Tim Waldorf; and Jeremy Waldorf; and
Her 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant great grandchild, Mary Wilson, and a sister, Noline Dryden.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00. Online condolences may be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.

Memorials have been established in Mrs. Waldorf's name for the American Heart Association and for Cumbernauld Village. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
