FLORENCE M. MEIER, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, December 26, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.

Born on October 31, 1915 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Fred and Alma (Sebastian) Lewis. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.

Florence was united in marriage on July 18, 1937 to Alvin H. Meier in Winfield where the couple made their home. She was a fulltime homemaker. Mr. Meier preceded her in death on December 11, 2003.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where she was actively involved in several groups while her health allowed her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, embroidery and playing the organ.

Her family includes:
Her son: Roger G. Meier and wife Trish of Winfield, KS;
Her daughter Lois E. Askins and husband Allen of Winfield, KS;
Her 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn Meier; her brother, Lawrence Lewis; and her sisters, Ethel King, Hazel David and Helen Sands.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield.

Memorials have been established in Florence's name for Trinity Lutheran Church and Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
