FLORENCE "VIOLA" GUIER, 92, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Monday morning, December 15, 2014 at her home.

Born February 21, 1922 in Mound Valley, Kansas, she was the daughter of Leland Wilson and Ocie May (Osburn) Morain. She was raised and received her education in Peru, Kansas graduating from Peru High School. She later attended St. Francis Hospital Nursing School and received her Registered Nurse's License.

Viola worked at Boeing during WWII from 1942 to 1945. In 1951, she began her lifelong career at William Newton Hospital as a Labor and Delivery Nurse and retired in 1992. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Riley Guier, Sr. on June 17, 1990 at First Christian Church in Winfield. Mr. Guier preceded her in death on January 13, 2006.

Mrs. Guier was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed gathering with other retired nurses and reminiscing and especially loved reading about and watching song birds.

Her children: Sandi Harris and husband, Warren of Charlotte, NC; Bob Guier and wife, Terry of Pensacola, FL; Ken Guier, Jr. and wife, Karyn of Conroe, TX;
Her sister-in-law: Dorothy Morain of Winfield;
Her nieces: Karen Faber and Joann Downing;
Her caregivers: Terri Wells and Jessica Shaw; and
Her 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by her brothers, George and Albert Morain, her sisters, Lena May, Ruby Irene and Charity May Morain, and her best friend, Frances "Tootsie" Harris.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning, December 17, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private interment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8:30 to service time.

A Memorial has been established in Viola's name for Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
