Faye Ann
Adler
May 28, 1939 – December 31, 2023
Faye Ann Adler, 84, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Larksfield Place in Wichita.
Born May 28, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Clyde and Zora "Donia" (Young) Robertson. She was raised and received her education in Russellville, Missouri, graduating from Russellville High School in 1955. As a teen she enjoyed playing ball and participating in outside activities, though very few were offered for girls at that time. Faye Ann then attended nursing school at the Research Hospital of Kansas City. While in Kansas City, she met Wilbur Adler.
Faye Ann was united in marriage to Wilbur D. Adler on September 20, 1959, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Marlow, Oklahoma. They moved for a short time to Seiling, Oklahoma where Faye Ann worked as the Director of Nursing. In 1968, they made their home in Winfield, and Faye Ann worked as a nurse at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. After she completed her nurse anesthetist training at Wesley she spent the rest of her nursing career as a Nurse Anesthetist in The Birthcare Center at Wesley. She was an extremely compassionate and competent nurse anesthetist, helping hundreds of moms during labor and delivery. She loved her work and her patients loved her right back. She was a valued and respected member of the Wesley community until her retirement in 2002. Wilbur preceded Faye Ann in death on October 25, 1995. He was the love of her life and she missed him every single day.
Faye Ann was a working mom, but the mom role always came first. She put in long hours at the hospital but made it to every game and sporting event of her kids, and they kept her busy! With three sports-oriented boys and a busy daughter, Faye Ann and Wilbur traversed the county, state, and country following boys who played sports at every conceivable level. She welcomed every one of their teammates and friends into their home, offering each a hug and food. The Adler home was a hub of activity and she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Faye Ann had many roles, but the one she adored most was Mema. She loved spending time with her grandkids, whether it was babysitting or watching them at their various activities. She especially enjoyed going to their ball games, and her grandkids gave her plenty to attend! It was not uncommon for her to attend several games in the course of a day, always bringing her cooler of snacks and an umbrella. She created unique snacks and treats that were special just for her grandkids and created a home that welcomed kids of all ages. She was a perfect Mema.
Faye Ann was a long-time and faithful member of Central Christian Church in Wichita. She was involved in Health Ministries through the church, continuing to serve others through her 70s. She consulted, aided, supported, drove, helped, and served - positively impacting countless individuals. She had a true servant's heart and used it to its fullest her entire life.
Her family includes her daughter Monica Biddle and husband, Matt of Jefferson City, MO; her sons, Michael Adler and wife, Rainey of Derby; Marlon Adler and wife, Seanna of Melbourne, FL; Marcus Adler and wife, Michelle of Andover; her sister Carol Wharton and husband, Tomie of Salisaw, OK; her brother Joe Robertson and wife, Shirley of Missouri. Her grandchildren include, Adrienne, Drew, Taylor, Courtney, Sydney, Emily, Grant, Alex, John, Eric, Will, Ben, Nate, Luc, and Jace; her great-grandchildren include Becker, Shep, Collins, Reese, Bianca, Adler, Kameron, Kason, Kai, and Rome.
In addition to her parents and husband, Faye Ann was preceded in death by her sister Sue Smith.
