Obituary

EVELYN LEONARD, 62, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Saturday morning, February 22, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born July 22, 1951 in Port Angeles, Washington, she was the daughter of Donald and Edna (Andreson) Swan. She was raised in Oregon and graduated from Clackamas High School in 1969. She later attended and graduated from WATC Nursing School. Evelyn married Robert L. Crane in 1971. The couple had four children and later divorced.

She was united in marriage to David L. Leonard on July 22, 1996 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. With this marriage, Evelyn inherited three more children.

Mrs. Leonard worked as a nurse at Medicalodges, Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and most recently at Cumbernauld Village. She retired from Cumbernauld Village, where she was the LPN charge nurse, in 2012.

Evelyn was a member of the USBC bowling league. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, painting, crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed helping others and spending time with her family.

Her sons: Boe Crane and wife, Della of Winfield; David Leonard, Jr. of Winfield; Sage Leonard and wife Kendra of Peru, KS; and Skyler Robertson and wife, Sheila of Sedan, KS;
Her daughters: Michelle Crane and partner Sue Frye of Arkansas City; Melissa Denton and husband Bruce of Thomasville, GA; and Melinda Cleveland of Winfield;
Her father: Donald Swan of Milwaukie, OR;
Her brothers: Jack Swan and wife, Peggy of Hillsboro, OR; and Bob Swan and wife, Lynn of Milwaukie, OR;
Her 25 grandchildren; and
Her 2 great-grandchildren: Isabella and Maricela Retana.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Swan.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

A Memorial has been established in Evelyn's name for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
