Grogan

Evelyn Pauline Grogan, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Avita Senior Living Center in Wichita.
Born July 30, 1930, near Tampa, Kansas, she was the only child of Leo and Petrona (Klenda) Kristek. She graduated from Lincolnville High School (now Centre High) in 1948 and went on to attend Sacred Heart College (now Newman University) in Wichita. She later attended St. Joseph School of Radiology and received her certification in 1953.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Gene Riley Grogan on April 25, 1953 at the Guadalupe Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Winfield where Evelyn worked for William Newton Hospital from 1952 to 1956 and then began her career at Snyder Clinic in 1966. She retired as an X-ray Technician in 1997. Gene preceded her in death on May 21, 1985.
Evelyn was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church as well as the Holy Name Altar Society, the Rosary Group, and the Harvest House. She volunteered at Holy Name Catholic School. Evelyn loved nature and enjoyed going on walks. She was especially proud of her family and enjoyed caring for family members. She also enjoyed Czech and Country music.
Her family includes her sons, Michael Grogan of Ellis; Tim Grogan and wife, Mary of Clearwater; her daughters, Colleen Bradbury and husband, Walt of Denver, CO; Kathleen Freeman and husband, David of Lawrence; Kristey Grogan of Wichita; her 11 grandchildren; and her nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Grogan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn requested memorials be made to the Father Kapaun Guild, Holy Name Catholic Church, or to Holy Name Catholic School. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
