Eugenia Lee Wunderlich, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024, at Winfield Senior Living.
Born December 19, 1939, in Torrance, California, she was the daughter of George W. and Dorothea (Byron) Wunderlich. She was raised and received her education in the Torrance area, graduating from Torrance High School in 1957. She attended college in California as well as Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri. Genie worked many jobs including the LAPD, raising and racing Greyhounds, waitressing, insurance, and sales. Her favorite and most prized job was being a massage therapist, both for horses and people. Genie loved all animals. She also enjoyed going on endurance rides.
Her family includes her daughter Robin Unrein and husband, Mike of Independence, MO; her grandchildren, Candy Toon and husband, Joe; and Michael Kite; her bonus grandchildren, Jason and Samantha Unrein; Her 11 great grandchildren, Paidon Kite, Lane Toon, Zachary Kite, Garrett Toon, Nathan Kite, Shay Toon, Mikey Kite, Josey Toon, Trace Toon, Izzy Toon, and Delcy Toon; five bonus great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two bonus great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Genie was preceded in death by a brother, Roy "Corky" and a half-sister Shirley.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Genie's name for Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
