EUGENE "GENE" SELLERS, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Born on November 29, 1919 in Glencoe, Oklahoma, he was the son of Howard I. and Ida Belle (Kadau) Sellers. He was raised and received his education in Tisdale, Kansas and later Winfield.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Mae Benjamin on March 27, 1942 in Perry, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Winfield. Gene was a roustabout and roughneck in the local area and also farmed. In 1958 he began employment for General Electric where he was a jet engine mechanic on the flight line for 27 years. He traveled to many places across the United States, Canada and Mexico City to work on planes. Gene loved his work and traveling. In 1964 the couple bought the Sellers farmstead where Gene engaged in farming and raising cattle.
He was a member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the NRA, Farm Bureau, Winfield Farmers Coop, Modern Woodmen and the K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association where he had been a member since 1982. Gene enjoyed woodworking and had made mantel clocks for each of his children and grandchildren. He also loved hunting, restoring old tools and machinery, and puttering.

His 9 grandchildren: Kenny McNutt and wife Tracy, Steven McNutt and wife Sherry, Greg McNutt, Mitchell Meier and wife Rosann, Matthew Meier and wife Heather, Sam Butters, Terri Mayo and husband Randy, Connie Hirsh and husband Tim, and Jamie Runyan and husband Darell;
His 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son David Sellers, a sister Ruth Marie Cook and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Tisdale United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Tisdale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening.
Memorials have been established in Gene's name for the Tisdale United Methodist Church and the K & O Steam and Gas Engine Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
