Obituary

Ethel Vernice Jarrett, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, April 22, 2016 at Winfield Senior Living.

Born May 5, 1924 in the Lookout Community north of Freedom, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of George and Bessie Mae (Ferbrache) Brown. She was raised and received her education in Freedom, graduating from Freedom High School. Ethel moved to Wichita, Kansas and lived there several years. She married Dale Jarrett and the couple later divorced.

She worked and retired from the Paper Bag Company. Ethel moved from Wichita in May of 1984 to Udall, Kansas, and to Winfield in December of 1996. In August 2013, Ethel moved to Winfield Senior Living.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and doing crafts.

Her family includes:
Her cousin: Wilma Chase of Buffalo, OK and Wilma's family.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her sisters, Fern Harlan and Fern's husband, Bill, and Ila Mae Ragan and Ila's husband, Mack.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Ethel's name for the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
