Erma Louise Hopkins, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, January 3, 2012 at the Hospital.
Born January 22, 1924 in Oxford, Kansas, she was the daughter of Leland H. and Marie E. (Campbell) Reece. She was raised and received her education in Oxford, Kansas, graduating from Oxford High School in 1943.
Erma was united in marriage to Richard L. Hopkins, Sr. in 1945, in Placer County, California. The couple made their first home in St. Cloud, Florida. They later returned to Winfield where Erma went to work for the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. She remained there for over 40 years until retiring as the Director of the Lab.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield, the Business of Professional Women, where she had served as president and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her sister-in-law: Marilyn Teachman of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Brian, Brad, Craig, Jarritt, and Te'Keisha; and
Her 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Erma was preceded in death by 3 sisters Rose Marie, Darlene, and Martha Jean, a grandson Kiyon Koroma, and a son-in-law, Keith Wartick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 5, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors that evening.
A memorial has been established in Mrs. Hopkins' name for the First Christian Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
