ENRIQUE "HENRY" TOVAR, 86, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Monday night, May 6, 2013 at his home.
Born March 15, 1927 in Hidalgo de El Parral Chil, Mexico, he was the son of Enrique S. and Adela (Soltero) Tovar. At a young age, his family moved to Juarez, Mexico.
Henry began working for Santa Fe Rail Road Company at the age of 16. He worked 48 years and retired as a machine operator. Henry had ten children with Henrietta Rodriguez.
Mr. Tovar was a member of the Catholic Church. He was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed fishing, camping, and loved to work on cars especially classic cars. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs and coached the church league baseball team. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids.

His sons: George Tovar and wife, Dorothy of Dodge City, KS; Salvador Tovar and wife, Zelda of Augusta, KS; Arthur Tovar and wife, Phyllis of Salina, KS; Mike Tovar and wife, Rosie of Wichita, KS; Jesse Tovar of Winfield; John Tovar of Arkansas City; Joe Tovar and wife, Samantha of Winfield; and Tito Tovar and wife, Val of Winfield;
His daughters: Martha T. Brown and husband, Ronald of Arkansas City; and Adela T. Barnett and husband, Jackie of Winfield;
His sister: Martha Tovar; and
His 55 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnna, his son, Henry Tovar, Jr. and his granddaughter, Josephine Ames.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church. Friends may call at the church prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Private family inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Henry's name to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
