EMMA LOUISE SIMMONS, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 22, 2009 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Born on February 9, 1923 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of George and Elsie (Bonesteel) Naw. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.
She was united in marriage on November 16, 1947 to Bobby F. Simmons in Winfield where the couple made their home. Louise was a fulltime homemaker. Bob preceded her in death on April 5, 2009.
She was a member of the First Church of God. Her hobbies included collecting blue glassware and dolls.
Her family includes:
Her son: David L. Simmons and wife Virginia of Wichita, KS;
Her 2 grandchildren: Gabe Edmonds and Amelia Simmons; and
Her 3 great-grandchildren: Alexiss, Cadence and Makayla.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheryl Edmonds; her grandson, Heath Edmonds, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 27, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 26, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Louise's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
