Obituary

EMMA REBECCA CARR, 91, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Friday evening, June 17, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Born on April 18, 1920 in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of Herbert E. and Johanna (Somes) McCoy. She was raised and received her education in the Dallas, Texas area.

She was united in marriage on February 14, 1938 to Raymond Oliver Carr Sr. The couple traveled extensively while Mr. Carr served as Captain in the United States Army. She was involved in the Officers' Wives Club during that time. After retiring from the military in 1956 the couple lived in Douglas, Oklahoma where they operated Carr's Youth Home. Mr. Carr preceded her in death in 1978

Emma was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Enid, Oklahoma. She had been a member of the Democratic Womens' Club, and a volunteer at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid. She enjoyed cooking, making friends with everyone she met, smiling and joking.

Her family includes:
Her daughter: Rae Ellen Carr of Bakersville, NC;
Her daughter-in-law: Debbie Jane Carr of Bartlesville, OK;
Her grandchildren: Rodney David Ashcraft of Bakersville, NC; Raymond Oliver Carr III., Rebecca Ruth Carr and Amie Virginia Carr all of Colorado Springs, CO; and
Her great-granddaughter: Estrella Mira Carr of Colorado Springs, CO.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Oliver Carr II., and her grand-daughter Amoreona Blanche Carr.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 24, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will take place at 4:00 P.M., Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Tecumseh Cemetery in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Cumbernauld Village Employees Christmas Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
