Emery L. Josserand, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away, Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018 at Winfield Rest Haven.
Born August 8, 1945, in Garden City, Kansas, he was the son of Emery F. and Harriett (Gatewood) Josserand. He was raised and received his education in Johnson, Kansas, graduating from Johnson High School in 1963. He then attended the University of Kansas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1968.
Emery was united in marriage to Linda Hume on September 2, 1967, in Johnson. The couple made their first home in Lawrence while they completed their degrees. After school they moved to Cowley County and Emery began working as a Pharmacist at Graves Drug. He remained at Graves for over 35 years before going to work for Winfield Pharmacy. He retired in 2010.
He was an avid bicyclist, participating in BAK (Biking Across Kansas), RAGBRAI (cycling across Iowa), and ODAK (One Day Across Kansas) a ride that he started with friends. Emery also enjoyed photography. He started Emery's Photography, specializing in wedding, engagement, and family photos. He was very loyal to the Kansas Jayhawks, often attending football and basketball games.
His family includes his wife Linda M. Josserand of Winfield; his daughter Carrie Josserand and husband, Daniel Estes of Shawnee; his sisters Jerilyn Buchholz of Hesston; Linda G. Josserand of McPherson; Jodell Josserand of Guymon, OK; his brother Lance Josserand of Wichita; his uncle O.W. Josserand of Johnson; his grandchildren Sophia and Andrew Estes; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Emery was preceded in death by a brother, Jon Josserand.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Emery's name for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cowley County, a program he was active in for many years. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
