Emery Firebaugh, 93, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, December 8, 2011 at Dexter Care Center.
Born August 1, 1918 in Winfield, Kansas he was the son of Samuel Martin and Nora (Sackett) Firebaugh. He was raised and received his education east of Winfield at Victor Point.
Emery was united in marriage to Ellen Samms on December 2, 1935 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in the Winfield area where he worked as a farm hand for several area farmers. He later went to work for Gott, Hittle Service, and then Boeing. He remained at Boeing for over 17 years until retiring in 1977. After retiring he continued farming on the family farm east of Winfield. In 1991 Emery and Ellen moved to Winfield after the tornado destroyed their home. Ellen preceded him in death in 2002.

His grandchildren: Mark; Marcy; Roger; Ginger; and
His 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Emery was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Burden Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Emery's name for the Dexter Care Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
