Obituary

ELSIE BEULAH CROW, 97, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, January 21, 2010 at William Newton Hospital.

Born December 27, 1912 in Bellflower, Illinois, she was the daughter of Floyd Albert and Ona Poe. Her family moved to Sedan when Elsie was seven years old and to Dexter five years later. She graduated from Dexter High School. She worked as a waitress when she was young and ran the phone office in Dexter during high school.

Elsie was united in marriage to Edwin Carl Crow on November 11, 1932 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Dexter. They lived in Dexter from 1932 until 1958 when they moved to Mulvane. Mr. Crow preceded her in death on April 7, 1972. Elsie moved back to Dexter 1997. Elsie made her career as a housewife.

Mrs. Crow was a member of the Maple City Community Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Dexter. She loved reading and listening to music. She played the Ukulele when she younger. The couple also enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri and to Gold Beach, Oregon.

Her family includes:
Her son: Don Crow and wife, Kay of Dexter, KS;
Her daughter: Margaret Headley and husband, Carl of Spokane, WA;
Her grandchildren: Teresa Lerret, Brad Crow and Jim Headley; and
Her great grandchildren: Bethany and John Crow, Kyree Lerret, and Allie and Abby Crow.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was preceded in death by her grandson, Eddie Crow, and her brother Albert Poe.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 7. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that afternoon.

Memorials have been established in Mrs. Crow's name for the Salvation Army and for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
