ELNORA COCHREN, 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Monday morning, July 9, 2012 at Winfield Rest Haven.
Born February 21, 1927 in Tye, Texas, she was one of three daughters born to Homer D. and Bobbie Jane (Yates) Clay. She was reared and educated in Texas until the age of 14 when her family moved to Oklahoma City.
Elnora was united in marriage to Levi E. Shaffer on August 26, 1945. The couple lived in various locations including Detroit, Michigan in the 60's. They divorced in 1967.
She was united in marriage to Luther O. Cochren on September 13, 1967 in Winfield. The couple lived in Winfield for four years before moving to Texas. They remained in Texas until Luther passed away on March 19, 1977. Elnora then returned to Winfield.
She worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in the Dietary Department from 1981 until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, fishing and preparing large meals.

Her daughters: Tonie Hubbard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Pamie Schuyler of Winfield; and
Her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Bobbie, her first husband, Levi Shaffer, her second husband, Luther Cochren, her son, Edward D. Shaffer, her daughters Geneva Shaffer and Jeanette Leonard, and her sisters, Dora Mullet and Mary Jo Wood.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Elnora's name for the First Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
