Elizabeth R. Sherring, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, June 15, 2017 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Elizabeth was born in Ambala, India. She was orphaned at age 2, and was raised in India by missionaries. She received her education in India, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
On June 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to Reverend Victor Sherring in Roorkie, India. From 1955 to 1957, the couple toured the United States with a Methodist choir to celebrate 100 years of the Methodist Church in India. They then returned to India and Elizabeth worked as a teacher and later the Head Mistress of Pickett Primary School. The couple was very active in the Methodist church in India. Reverend Sherring preceded her in death in 2004.
Elizabeth moved to Winfield, Kansas in 2004 to be near her family. In 2011, she proudly became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States. She was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering, knitting, cooking and especially enjoyed music and attending all other church activities and bible studies.

Her sons: Vijay Sherring of Winfield; Vinod Sherring and wife, Daphne of New Bern, NC;
Her daughter: Vineeta Sherring and husband, John Hamagami of Los Angeles, CA;
Her granddaughter: Kama Sherring of Arizona; and
Her sister: Agnes Singh of India.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Elizabeth's name for Grace United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
