Elizabeth Lee McNown, 92, of Derby, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Denton, Texas.

Born July 22, 1926 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of William and Alice Patteson. She was raised and received her education in Cedar Vale. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Roy McNown on April 25, 1947 in Chautauqua County. The couple made their home in Chautauqua County, first in Sedan and later in Cedar Vale. Elizabeth attended and graduated Cosmetology School and worked as a Cosmetologist. She also worked at the Cedar Vale Hospital as a receptionist.

She was a member of the Woodlawn United Methodist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed sewing and baking.

Her family includes her daughters, Ginny VonCannon of Derby; Mary Bland of Savannah, TX; her grandchildren, Doug Bland, Ron Bland, Susan Bland Nivin Piper, Nicole VonCannon, and Kelli VonCannon; and her great grandchildren, Garret, Brandon, Alex, Sam, Dillion, Daxie, Ben, Addie, Alex and Victoria.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel McCall and her son-in-law, Jack VonCannon.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Round Mound Cemetery in Cedar Vale. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Elizabeth's name for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and for the Waunetta United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
