Obituary

ELDON LOUIS BERGESON, 64, of Winfield, passed away Thursday evening, January 8, 2009, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.

Born on October 23, 1944 on the family farm in Leonardville, Kansas, he was the son of Louis and Eleanor (Berg) Bergeson. He was raised and received his education in the Leonardville area, graduating from Riley County High School in 1963. He then attended North East Technical College in Milford, Nebraska, and received his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, graduating number one in his class.

He was united in marriage to Marearl Bahr on December 25, 1963 in Osage City. The couple later divorced. Eldon was married to Donna Marie Sutton on May 10, 1980 in Great Bend, Kansas. Eldon raised five daughters.

Eldon worked for Fritz Filling Station all through high school in Leonardville, Kansas. He then went to work for a paper products manufacturing company. He also worked for the Burlington Railroad during college. In 1968, he went to work for Natural Gas Pipeline, and retired in 1998, when he moved to Winfield.

He was a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church. He enjoyed tinkering with small tractors, woodworking, building computers, electronics, home improvements, and welding. He loved anything that involved brain power and technology.

His family includes:
His wife: Donna Bergeson of Winfield;
His daughters: Kristin Bergeson Gasser of Grafton, WI; Donelle Bergeson Sommer of Chicago, IL; Bianca Dawn Alvarez of Dodge City, KS; and Candice Marie Bergeson of Winfield, KS;
His sister: Shirley Martin of Osage City, KS; and
His grandchildren: Grace and Josephine Gasser, Eymber, Orion and Anthem Sommer, Marixsa and Trinidad Alvarez, and Kyan Towles.
In addition to his parents, Eldon was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Lynn Bergeson in 1986, and his sister, Louella Dugan.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grandview United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at the Crooked Creek Cemetery in Riley, Kansas at 4:00 P.M. that day. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00. There will be a special time for sharing remembrances at 7:00 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Bergeson's name for the Grandview United Methodist Church and for the Society for Melanoma Research. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
