Elba "Ray" Solomon, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 at his home.

Born January 30, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa, he was the son of Elba Marshall and Kathryn (Weinrich) Solomon.  He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating Winfield High School in 1983.  He joined the United States Army in 1983.  Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Wichita and started Big D Siding.

He was united in marriage to Donna Phillips on September 10, 1993 in Wichita.  In 2002, Ray re-enlisted in the Army and served in Operation Enduring Freedom.  He returned to working construction in Wichita until he moved to Burden in September 2012.  Donna preceded him in death on June 29, 2012.

He married Catina Tucker on June 5, 2017 in Burden.  The couple made their home in Burden.  Ray served as Sergeant of Arms for the Military Veterans Motorcycle Club in 2005.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.

His brother:  Kris Hotchkin and wife Arlene of Burden;
His sister:  Terresa Stewart and husband, Larry of Burden;
His God parents:  Phyllis and Darrell Hotchkin of Burden; and
His cousins:  Angee Oliver of TN; Paula Cronn of Wichita; Shawna LaCorum of CA.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his first wife.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery.  Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 P.M.

A memorial has been established in Ray's name to help defray funeral expenses.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
