EFFIE LOUISE BROCK ROE, 71, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away Saturday night, September 27, 2008 at her home.
Born on December 28, 1936 in Arkansas City, she was youngest daughter of Frank Dayton and Ollie Maggie (Patterson) Brock. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City.
Louise was united in marriage to George William Roe, Jr. on May 1, 1955 in Yuma, AZ. The couple moved to California where she worked for Perry Egg Company and the phone company. After 20 years in California, they moved to Grenola, Kansas in 1975. She worked for Cessna and later for Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. Louise retired from Good Samaritan on January 10, 2002 after 18 years. Mr. Roe preceded her in death on February 22, 2005.
She was a member of the Grenola United Methodist Church. She was actively involved with the United Methodist Women's Group, the Moline Musical and Literary Club, the Royal Neighbors, Grenola Senior Citizens and was an API Board member. Louise loved collecting family history. She also enjoyed traveling, bowling, baking and cooking, collecting pig ornaments, and caring for her pets.

Her step-sons: James Dean Roe and wife, Marsha of Grenola, KS; Dennis Lee Roe Butler and wife, Terri of Ponca City, OK; and George Wayne Roe and wife, Donna of Newkirk, OK;
Her step-grandchildren: Deana, Rebecca, Billy, Jennifer, Amber, Amy, Brian and Kari; and
Her 18 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Adam Tyler Roe, her four brothers, Frank, John, Harry and Marion and her two sisters, Agnes and Erma.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grenola United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery north of Arkansas City. Family and friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 6 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Roe's name for the Royal Neighbors in Grenola. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
