Obituary

Edward N. "Huck" Huckvale, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, November 22, 2009 at Riverview Manor in Oxford.

Born February 11, 1931 in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of William and Margaret (Aurich) Huckvale. He was raised and received his education in Staten Island. In 1950 he joined the United States Air Force and proudly serviced his country in the Korean War. Upon returning from the war in 1953 while stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita he met his future wife Jerry Robbins. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1953.

Edward was united in marriage to Geraldine "Jerry" Robbins on August 15, 1953 in El Dorado, Kansas. The couple moved back to and made their first home in Staten Island, New York. In 1955 they returned to Kansas where Edward worked as a sheet metal worker, at Gordon Piatt for over 35 years, until retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign War. He enjoyed cracking pecans, was an avid sports fan, and loved fishing and going on fishing trips.

His brother: William Huckvale of Eugene, FL;
His grandchildren: Jennifer Sterling and husband, Daniel of Winfield; Abby Huckvale of Lawrence; Logan Huckvale of Winfield; Zack Pauls of Hutchinson; Taylor Pauls of Hutchinson; and
His great grandchildren: Jaden and Jenae Sterling of Winfield.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

A Memorial has been established in Edward's name for the William Newton Health Care Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
