EDNA F. WATT DEWITT, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, June 12, 2009 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
She was born January 28, 1911 in rural Winfield, one of five children, to Ira and Rosa (King) Watt. She was raised and educated in the Grandview Community and attended Prairie Grove rural school. Edna graduated from Winfield High School in 1929. She received her Normal Training Teaching Certificate from Pittsburgh State College and taught school seven years before her marriage to Harold Dewitt on June 20, 1937.
After living in Arkansas City eight years, she and her husband made their home in the Grandview Community for the remainder of their married life.
She was a member of, the Grandview United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women. Edna also taught a Children's Sunday School class for many years. She was a member of the Grandview Extension Homemakers Unit and the Rock-Fairview Township Senior Citizens.

Her son: Larry Dewitt and wife, Sherry of Madison, KS;
Her brother: Clyde Watt of Winfield;
Her grandchildren: Crystal Clark of Tulsa, OK; Philip Clark of Tulsa; Diantha Stutesman of Madison, KS; Nathan Dewitt of Madison, KS; and
Her 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents Edna was preceded in death by her son, Rex Dewitt, her son-in-law, Don Clark, and her 3 brothers, Estel, John, and Bill Watt.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grandview United Methodist Church, north of Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Grandview United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
