Edna "Maxine" Davis, 87, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away February 18, 2016 at her home.

Born November 18, 1928 in Barlett, Kansas, she was the daughter of Loyal Edward and Edna Irene (Gipson) Davis. She attended grade school in Wyandotte, Oklahoma and then Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1947.

Maxine was united in marriage to Peter J. Davis on June 11, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Mrs. Davis made her career as a homemaker and loved taking care of her family.

She was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church and the Walnut Valley Quilter's Guild. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening and orchids. She was involved in cooking classes offered by the Cowley County Extension Office She and Peter also loved to travel. They traveled every state in the United States except Hawaii, nine Provinces in Canada and seven countries overseas. They were also members of the Cherokee Strip Auto Club for many years.

Her sons: Terry Davis and wife, Fern Ann of Joplin, MO; Craig Davis and wife, Debbie of Broken Arrow, OK;
Her grandchildren: Jerric, Matthew, Emily and Melinda;
Her great grandchildren: Parker, Lauren, Ethan, Gavin; and
Her sisters: Beulah Coleman and husband, Rex of Tulsa, OK; Mary Ann Cummings of Spiro, OK; Barbara Anderson of Tulsa, OK.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Davis.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Maxine's name for the 7th Day Adventist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
