Edna M. Conrad, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, surrounded by family.

Born May 21, 1950, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Eugene E., Sr. and Myrta "Peggy" (Warren) Shields. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1968. Following high school, she moved to Kansas City and worked as a keypunch operator for Associated Grocers. In 1972, she owned and operated a cafe in Burden, Kansas, before going to work for Koch Industries in Wichita.

She was united in marriage to Jerry Conrad on May 21, 1981, at her sister's home in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield and Edna continued working in data entry for Koch Industries until 1982, when she began working at Rubbermaid as the shipping/receiving clerk. In 1997, Edna began her career in the accounting department for the Kansas Department of Corrections in Winfield, where she remained until retiring in September 2011. She enjoyed feeding people, baking, cooking, knitting, making Christmas candy, and attending Bluegrass. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing them meals.

Her family includes her husband Jerry Conrad; her sons, Jason (Jennifer) Conrad, Kyle Conrad, Kevin (Amanda) Conrad, Kirk Conrad, and Kody (Jennifer) Conrad; her siblings, Bud Shields, and Peggy Brown; her sister-in-law Joyce (Wes) Parson; her grandchildren, Abbiah, Samantha, Eden, Rebecca, Maddalyn, Xander, Emily, Tyler, and Denzil; and three nephews and three nieces.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by a nephew Michael Shields.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 19, 2022, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Tisdale Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that afternoon.

A memorial has been established in Edna's name for the Winfield Isle of Lights. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
