Edmon Bradford "Brad" Kidd, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, October 20, 2023, at Cumbernauld Village.
Born March 4, 1932, in Iola, Kansas, he was the son of Charles Edmon and Emma Lucille (Nicholas) Kidd. He was raised and received his education around Chanute and Iola. As a young man, Brad worked as a farmer. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 19, 1951 and proudly served his country during the Korean war as an Aircraft Mechanic aboard the USS Hornet. He received a National Defense Service medal, Naval Occupation Service medal, China Service medal, and the Good Conduct medal. He received an honorable discharge on November 17, 1955.
Brad was united in marriage to Salley Joe Bristow on December 4, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri. He made his career working in tooling at Boeing Aircraft Company. He raised Hereford cattle and loved to go spoonbilling with his sons and grandkids. He also enjoyed going to the casino and playing slots. He especially loved spending time with his family.
His family includes his wife Salley Joe Kidd of Winfield; his sons, Ed Kidd, Jr. and wife, Chrissy of Atlanta; Chuck Kidd, Sr. and wife, Kimberly of Derby; his daughters, Ellen Chamness of El Dorado; Rosalie Hopper and husband, Mike of Grenola; and 23 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Brad was preceded in death by his step-mother Nina Kidd, two sons, Thomas Kidd and Ronnie Kidd, a brother Terry Kidd and wife, Irma, sisters, Sally Ann Sherrill and husband, Bob, and Berta Sue Lee, a son-in-law Jim Chamness, and two great-great granddaughters.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at the Atlanta Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
A memorial has been established in Brad's name for the William Newton Healthcare Foundation for the purchase of chairs in the 2 East rooms. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
