William Wright

Edgar William "Bill" Wright, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, January 3, 2019 at the Kansas Veterans Home.
Born March 4, 1927 in Brown Station, Missouri, he was the son of Edgar and Margaret (Ray) Wright. He was raised in Brown Station, Missouri and educated in Hinton, Missouri. After school, he was drafted into the United States Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Bill returned to Missouri, where he worked for Hinshaw's Coop in Columbia, Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Goldia Ruth Severs on September 4, 1948 in Columbia, Missouri. The couple made their home in Columbia until moving to St. Louis, Missouri in 1959 where Bill began working for General Motors. He remained with GM for over 30 years until retiring. After retirement, Bill worked as a Crossing Guard for the Fort Zumwalt School District. He and Goldia loved to travel, visiting 49 states and Canada. Goldia preceded him in death on June 21, 2000.
Bill married Jewell Will on August 24, 2001 in St. Charles, Missouri. They made their home in St. Peters, Missouri and later moved to Olathe, Kansas to be near family. Jewell preceded him in death on January 8, 2016. In 2016, Bill moved to the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. He was a member of First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Missouri. In addition to travelling, Bill enjoyed fishing.
His family includes his sisters, Shirley Hudnut of O'Fallon, MO; Mildred Kapelski of Puyallup, WA; daughter-in-law Marla Wright and husband, Darrell of Olathe; his stepson Edward Will and wife, Ruth of Myrtle Beach, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Russell Wright, two sisters, Lucille Hunt, and Lola Kirkpatrick, and a brother, George Wright.
Private family inurnment will take place at Peace Cemetery in Wentzville, Missouri at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Bill's name for Good Shepherd Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
