EASTER GATTON, 97, of Dexter, Kansas, former Cambridge and Burden, Kansas resident, passed away Monday afternoon, January 17, 2011 at the Dexter Care Center.
Born on March 23, 1913 in rural Timber Creek, Cowley County, Kansas, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Stickel) Whiteman She was raised and received her education in Timber Creek.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Gatton on February 18, 1933 Winfield. The couple made their first home in the Cambridge area where the couple farmed and raised Hereford cattle. Easter was a fulltime homemaker. The couple moved to Burden in April of 1997. Mr. Gatton preceded her in death on December 8, 1999.
She was a member of the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included fishing and she also enjoyed cooking for the ranchhands.

Her grandchildren: Kendra Hull of her husband Marky, Kenneth Melissa and Hayden all of Cambridge, KS.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harland, Marley and twin Edgar Whiteman; and her sisters, Fern Grable, Mabel Sutton and Pearl Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. Friends may call from from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M, Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., that evening.
A memorial has been established in Easter's name for the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
