March 20, 1940 – December 24, 2018
Dwight W. Ramsey, 78, passed away Monday morning, December 24, 2018 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, Kansas.
Born March 20, 1940 at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Wayne Arthur and Gladys Elizabeth (Pitman) Ramsey. He was raised on the family farm west of Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School with the class of 1958. He graduated from Southwestern College and then attended Law School at Washburn University in Topeka.
Dwight worked for several years for Boeing in Wichita. He enjoyed fishing and painting oil scenes on canvas. He would often gift pictures to family members and friends, which are now treasured memories for the recipients.
His family includes his sisters, Lois Ann (Ramsey) Somer of Baraboo, WI; Janis Yvonne (Ramsey) Reinhardt and husband, Loy of Chanute; his nephews, Mark Reinhardt and wife, Linda of Kansas City, MO; Chris Somer of Baraboo, WI; his nieces, Debbie (Reinhardt) Cox of Chanute; Sherry Reinhardt and husband, John Hultgren of Enterprise; and numerous cousins and great nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gene Somer and two nephews, David Andrew Somer and Alan Cox.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Dwight's name for Cowley County Mental Health and for Good Shepherd Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
