Douangchay "Deekaye" Khanhankane, 51, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024, at her home.

Born February 1, 1973, in Sithadone, Laos, she was the daughter of Dan and Leume Khanhankane.  Her family came to the United States and lived in Rochester, New York from 1979 to 1983.  In 1980, Deekaye was baptized at the Saint Lutheran Church.  The family moved to Louisiana for a couple years before moving to Alabama until 1992.  At the age of 15, Deekaye worked at the Winn-Dixie as a cashier.   She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama.  In 1992, Deekaye moved to Winfield, Kansas where she worked at KSQ and Husky Liners.  She went to work for Jet Air Werks in 2017.

She enjoyed the outdoors, going hiking, jogging, camping, fishing, and going to concerts.  Deekaye also enjoyed knitting and shopping and was a foodie.  She especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

Her family includes her son Nike Phakonkham of Winfield; her daughter Darouny (Aly) Vongkhamchanh of Wichita; her brother Vanhxay Khanhankane of Santa Ana, CA; her sister Phouvieng Khanhankane of Wichita; her twin sister Phayvanh "PK" Bounvongxay of Wichita; and her grandchildren, Elijah, Elena, Kinley, Kingston, Keni, and Kehlani.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service.  A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday evening  from 5 to 7 P.M.  The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Deekaye's name for the American Cancer Society.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
