DOROTHY L. UTTERBACK, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, died March 17, 2010 at home.

She was born September 18, 1918 near Tisdale, Kansas. Her parents were Albert "Bert" and Dolly (Scott) Kadau. Her early years were spent in the Winfield area, Ordway, Colorado, and Bolivar, Missouri, then finally back to Winfield.

On August 17, 1946, Dorothy married William J. Utterback. She and Bill lived in several different states during their married life since her husband's work as Ford-Philco technical representative required close liaison with various military organizations. One son, Bradley James was born to this marriage. After retirement, they returned to Winfield in 1998.

Having been raised on the farm, Dorothy loved gardening, all kinds of flowers, and animals, especially cats. She was an excellent cook.

Her brother: Robert "Bob" Kadau and wife, Pat of Winfield;
Her nieces: Anita Jones and husband, Jim of Winfield; and Tammy Snyder and husband, Clint of Derby;
Also in Winfield her niece, Marsha Hamilton, and nephews, Larry Kadau; and Kyle Kadau, and wife, Vicky all of Winfield;
In Grosse Ile and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, her sister-in-law Ellie Kadau, nephews Gary and wife, Kathy, Robert Kadau, and niece Amy Stierna and husband, Matt.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert in 2008 and Donald in 2009.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Dorothy's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
