DOROTHY MARSHALL, 87, Dexter, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2010 at the Dexter Care Center.
Born on October 1, 1923 in Henryetta, Oklahoma she was the daughter of Joseph and Ann Black. She was raised and received her education in Henryetta and graduated from Henryetta High School in 1941. She lived and worked in Washington, DC during the war.
In 1943, she moved to Wichita, Kansas and was later united in marriage to Charles Fagins in Wichita. The couple made their home in Wichita and Dorothy was a homemaker. In 1953, they moved to Middletown, Ohio. The couple later divorced.
She was united in marriage to Ray Marshall in 1960 in Middletown, Ohio where the couple made their home. The couple later divorced.
Dorothy enjoyed music, gourmet cooking, crocheting and sewing.
Her family includes:
Her daughters: Susan Speer and husband William of Dexter, Kansas; Renee McWhirt and husband Daryl of Rock, KS; and Rebecca Thornley of Phoenix, AZ;
Her grandchildren: Lisa Eaglin, Charles Short, Rachal Chambers, Adam Powell, Michael Powell and April Starr;
Her 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and
A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, Harry, and Georgie Blake; and her sisters, Mary Bisset, Helen Conway and Annie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield. The Rosary will be held at 1:00 P.M., prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Dorothy's name for the Dexter Care Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
