Obituary

Dorothy M. "Dot" Flower, 92, of Winfield, Kansas passed away Wednesday evening, March 2, 2016 at her home.

She was born February 13, 1924 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Edward M. and Minnie (Glied) Grayson. She was raised in a loving foster home in rural Kansas by James and Bertha Utt. Dot received her education in Winfield.

She was united in marriage to Richard W. Flower on May 25, 1939 in Winfield. The couple lived in Winfield throughout their married lives. Dot was a homemaker until she and Richard opened Flower's Grocery Store. They owned and operated the store for 35 years, retiring in 1989. Mr. Flower preceded her in death on November 19, 1996.

She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, camping, fishing and all outdoor activities. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Her family includes:
Her son: James C. Flower of Santa Fe, NM;
Her granddaughters: Kimberly Miller and husband, Ty of Grain Valley, MO; and Pippa Boone and husband, Bruce of Winfield; and
Her great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Shandi, Charlee, Jessica and Megan; and
Her great-great grandchildren: Kaleb, Jayden, Wyatt, Iyrie and Blaire.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dot was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Grayson and her daughter-in-law, Lea Flower.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors during that time.

Memorials have been established in Dot's name for Angels Home Healthcare and Gentiva Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
