Dorothy Donley, 92, of Rock, Kansas, passed away May 30, 2021, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, Kansas.
Dorothy was born on February 25, 1929, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Carl and Estalene (Pace) Calvert. She graduated from Warrensburg High School in Missouri, in 1947 and attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri for two years. She then attended University of Missouri graduating with a BS in education in 1950. After college she taught for one year in Joplin, Missouri before working in an office in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Dorothy was married on June 8, 1958, in Lamar, Missouri to Lawrence Donley, who preceded her in death in 2014. After marriage, she lived on a farm outside of Rock, Kansas until 2019 when she moved into Cumbernauld Village. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and spent her years managing the household, tending garden, baking cookies, and being a farm wife. She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church and was most recently attending Grandview United Methodist Church.
Survivors include:
Her sons: Richard Donley and Kellee of Winfield; Carl Donley of Rock; and John Donley and wife, Kathy, of Rock;
Her daughter: Mary Mikkelson and husband Chuck, of Oklahoma City
Her grandchildren: Brittany Donals and husband Graham; Sara Booth and husband Stephen; Bridgette Sena and husband Zac; Molly Aves and husband Mason; Brooklene Barrett and husband Justice; Kayla Prentice and husband Brian; and Jacob Donley.
Her great grandchildren: Jameson Donals; Ardon, Layla, Lilliana, Bentley, Riley, and Harley Booth; Beau and Raleigh Sena; Landon and Logan (Aves) Evans; and Payton Prentice.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brothers Donald and David Calvert.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cumbernauld Village for the loving care they provided to Dorothy for the last two plus years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Stalter Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Dorothy's name for Grandview United Methodist Church and for the Cumbernauld Village Employee Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
