Obituary

Dorothy Leona (Snodgrass) Allison, 92, passed away Sunday morning, May 8, 2022, at Winfield Senior Living in Winfield, Kansas.

Born February 28, 1930, in Little River, Kansas, she was the daughter of Garfield and Velma (Skelton) Snodgrass.  Dorothy was raised and received her education in both Larned and Meade, KS, graduating from Meade High School.  As a young adult, Dorothy worked for her parents' coffee shop, Lakeway Cafe.  Following high school, she continued her studies at the Emporia State Teachers College.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Otes A. Allison on November 19, 1949, in Meade.  The couple made their home in Meade where Dorothy worked at the First National Bank.  To this union, three children were born.  Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up and later returned to the First National Bank, retiring in 1995.

Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stockton, Missouri, as well as a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Chapter GV of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.  Dorothy enjoyed being with family and friends, quilting, horseback riding, camping, boating, motorbike trail riding, making arts and crafts, square dancing, playing cards with friends, or just sitting on the porch visiting.

Her family includes her son Ronald Otes Allison and wife, Riki of Lebanon, MO; her daughters, Connie Jean (Gowin) Reed and husband, Larry of Winfield, KS; Jacqueline Sue Tavener and husband, Donald of Shawnee, KS; six grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her six great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Otes; brothers, Vestel Dean Snodgrass; Gary Ross Snodgrass; her sisters, Delores Nadine Snodgrass; Eulela Maxine Douglas; her son-in-law Russell Gowin; and her great-grandson Daxton Boyd.

A memorial service will be held at the Bland-Brumback Funeral Home (306 S High, Stockton, MO 65785) on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 11:00 A.M.  Inurnment will take place in Stockton.  Local arrangements were under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Stockton, MO, or the American Diabetes Association.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
