DORIS E. SISSON, 83, of Winfield, passed away Friday evening, March 27, 2009, at Good Samaritan Village.
Born June 17, 1925 in Rock, Kansas, she was the daughter of H.W. and Martha (Hahn) McDaniel. She was raised and educated in Rock and Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School.
Mrs. Sisson was united in marriage to Edgar "Ed" Sisson at the Slate Valley Baptist Church in Oxford on August 3, 1946. The couple lived in Wichita and Dodge City before making their home in Winfield in 1960.
Doris worked as the City Court Clerk for Winfield a short time and then went to work as a legal secretary for a local law firm. She retired in 2004.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield, and was also active in the Soroptomist Club, the Dorcas Church Club, and the Duplicate Bridge Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, collecting Giraffes and playing bridge. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Her brother: Howard McDaniel of Arkansas City;
Her sisters: June Bales of Oxford; and Illene Hutchins of Geuda Springs;
Her 9 grandchildren: Scott, Matthew, Nicholas, Jordan, Sean, Carrie, Christopher, Jessica, and Amber; and
Her 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a sister, Iris McCrabb.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening from 5 to 9. The family will greet visitors from 7 to 9 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Mrs. Sisson's name for the First Christian Church and for the Soroptomist International of Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
