Doris Marie Requena, 65, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at her home.

Born October 27, 1958, in El Dorado, Kansas, she was the daughter of Pedro, Jr. and Patricia Inez (Brothers) Requena. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1976.  She then attended Cowley County Community College where she graduated in May of 1978, before transferring to Southwestern College.  She received a Bachelor Degree from Southwestern College on May 18, 1980.

Doris made her career at William Newton Hospital in Medical Records for over 20 years.  She retired in 2021 as a Medical Coder.  She also did bookkeeping for Dick Golightley for 20 years.  She loved sports.  The Denver Broncos were her favorite football team.  She enjoyed playing pickleball.  She was a fun, loving person, always willing to help people.  She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin.

Her family includes her mother Patricia Requena of Winfield; brother David Requena and wife, Julie of Wichita; niece Anna Requena and husband, Jimmy Swick of Wichita; great niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Zach Swick; uncle Rodger Brothers; aunt Mary Villa; great aunt Shelly Crawford; several cousins; and her dog Maggie.

Doris was preceded in death by her father Pedro Requena, Jr., grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow at Union Graham Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.  The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Doris' name for the Winfield Food Pantry and for St. Jude Children's Hospital.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
