DONNIE "SUE" HOPPER, 81, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2012 at her home.

Born August 29, 1931 on a farm south of Comanche, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Samuel LeRoy and Stella Emily (Byford) Davidson. She was raised and educated in Comanche, graduating from Comanche High School.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Thurman L. Hopper on May 28, 1949 in Comanche. Sue attended nursing school and attained her LPN license. The couple moved to Winfield in 1972. Mrs. Hopper worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for three years. She and Thurman owned and operated Hopp's Engine and Magneto Service for 30 years. Sue handled all the secretarial aspects of the business. Mr. Hopper preceded her in death on October 31, 2009.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Winfield. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, camping and crocheting. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing scrabble.

Her grandchildren: Darrell Ozbun, Sharla Arndt, and Danielle Hopper; and
Her great grandchildren: Caleb Goosey and Elizabeth Arndt.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sue was preceded in death by her son, Larry Hopper on November 4, 2009.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday evening, November 26, from 5 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Hopper's name for the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
