Obituary

Donna L. (Homan) DeMint, 57, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.

Born January 27, 1958 in Wellington, Kansas, she was the daughter of Donald L. and Connie (Glantz) Wacker. She was raised and received her education in Argonia, graduating from Argonia High School in 1976. She then attended Southwestern College and received a Bachelors Degree in Biology and Business. While going to college she worked at Winfield Floral.

She married Paul Homan in September of 1981 at the Argonia United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Winfield and Donna went to work for First Community Federal Savings and Loans. To this union two children were born. The couple later divorced.

In November of 1983 she purchased Davis Floral in Winfield and started Donna's Designs. She enjoyed over 31 years in the floral and gift business until retiring in March of 2015. In 1993 she began Isle of Lights at Island Park in Winfield. She continued as President of Isle of Lights for over 21 years.

Donna was united in marriage to Todd DeMint on July 27, 2013 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winfield and a past member of Walnut Valley Quilt Guild and PEO F.D. Chapter Sorority. She was very active in the Winfield Chamber of Commerce and various other groups, receiving many civic and floral industry awards and recognitions. She enjoyed quilting and sewing with friends, baking, attending Christian music concerts, leading and attending Bible studies, and spending time with family and friends. Donna always found time to care for other people and encourage those with illness, especially cancer. She was involved with breast cancer awareness through Relay for Life and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, as well as many other activities.

Her daughters: Allison Homan of Winfield; Cassie Homan of Winfield; Melissa Asper and husband, Steven of Manhattan;
Her son: Scott DeMint of Manhattan; and
Her grandchildren: Kenyon Potts; Teagan Asper and Madelyn Asper.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, Donald L. Wacker.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas, on Monday evening, June 15, 2015, from 4 to 7. The family will greet visitors at that time.

Memorials have been established in Donna's name for First United Methodist Church, Southwestern College and Winfield Isle of Lights. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
