DONNA J. ATHEARN, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday evening, June 22, 2008 at her son's home north of Winfield.

Born on April 5, 1933 in Arkansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Jess and Helen (Bosley) Donlay. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1951.

She was united in marriage to Guy L. Athearn on July 4, 1953 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield until 1971 when they moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma. Donna was a fulltime homemaker. They returned to Winfield in 1974. Mr. Athearn preceded her in death on September 12, 2004.

Donna loved spending time with her family and reading.

Her sons: Guy Lee Athearn, Mark Athearn, Kelly Athearn and wife Vicki; and Wayde Athearn all of Winfield, KS;
Her daughter: Linda Byerley and husband Lee of Winfield, KS;
Her brother: Cliff Donlay and wife Ann of Wichita, KS;
Her sister-in-law: Jean Donlay of Haysville, KS;
Her grandchildren: Angela and James Henry, Melissa Strawburg, Kelli Athearn; and Jacob and Taylor Byerley; and
Her great-granddaughter: Lauralei Strawburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Donlay.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Akron Cemetery, northwest of Winfield. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 24, 2008.

A memorial has been established in Donna's name for Southern Care Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
