Obituary

DONALD LEE WILT, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014.

Lee was born December 10, 1927 in Winfield to Willard and Lora (Warren) Wilt. He attended Winfield schools and graduated from Winfield High School in 1946. From 1951 to 1953, he served in the United States Army with the Artic Warriors in the 196th Regimental Combat Team at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Lee was united in marriage to Donna Deaton in Oxford, Kansas on February 14, 1954. He worked in construction at the Consolidated Flour Mill and as a sheet metalist at Cessna, G.E. and retired from Boeing Aircraft Company in 1994.

He liked watching sports and was a loyal KU Jayhawks fan. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and working in his greenhouse.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harold and Edward and his sister, Thelma.

He is survived by:

His wife: Donna Wilt of Winfield;

His daughters: Tammy Mapel of Winfield; and Victoria Schreiner and husband, Bruce of Shelbyville, KY;

His grandchildren: Zachary Mapel, Keri and Eric Schreiner; and

Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 to 8 P.M.

A Memorial has been established in Lee's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
