Obituary

Donald Maurice Reynolds, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away late Saturday night, March 14, 2015 at the Kansas Veterans Home.

Born June 21, 1926 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Maurice "Carl" and Mary "Ethel" (Buffum) Reynolds. He was raised and educated in Winfield. During high school, Donald worked as a golf caddy at the country club. He also helped with the war effort working at the aircraft companies in Wichita. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1944.

He joined the United States Navy on June 16, 1944 and proudly served his country as a Seaman First Class during WWII. He served as a Gun Crew Member of the Liberty ship. Donald was honorably discharged on May 24, 1946.

Mr. Reynolds was united in marriage to Leona Saltz on July 14, 1949 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Donald worked for Gott Manufacturing and Watson Drilling as well as Crest Petroleum. He retired at the age of 77 in December 2003.

Donald was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was actively attending Cornerstone Bible Fellowship, formerly Evangelical Free Church. He was also a former active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golfing and watching baseball and football.

His family includes:
His wife: Leona Reynolds of Winfield
His sons: Michael Reynolds and wife, Rita of Neosho, MO; Harold Reynolds and wife, Donna of East Hampton, CT; and Gerald Reynolds and wife, Robbie of Winfield;
His sisters: Dorothy Malone and Louise Nichols;
His sister-in-law: Lois Reynolds;
His 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Kenneth, Glen and Cecil Reynolds.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Miles Funeral service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Donald's name for Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
