DONALD E. McDERMOTT, 86, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away into the arms of our Saviour, Thursday evening, October 22, 2009 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
Born on March 1, 1923 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, he was the son of John and Mary (Spruce) McDermott. He was raised and received his education in Excelsior Springs where he graduated from high school in 1940.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. McDermott proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
In the 1980's Don he was the state leader in Cadillac sales. He had served a term as president of the Board of Education and 2 terms as president of the Quarterback Club in Excelsior Springs.
He was united in marriage on September 12, 1987 to Florence Walter in Wichita, Kansas. Don loved watching football and collecting Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia.

His granddaughter: Andrea Tietjen Kramer and husband Eric of Missouri;
His step-son: Jay N. Walter and family of Arkansas City, KS;
His step-daughter: Cathy Hieght and family of Taos, NM;
His 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jana Limpic; a brother, and 3 sisters.
Military graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
A memorial in Donald's name has been established for the Sedgwick County Humane Society in Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
